Brush fire season

 

Company 3 has responded to numerous brush fires in the past 3 days:

 

- On Sunday April 26th at 13:48 hours Brush 3 assisted on Rattlesnake Run Road in Franklin County Box 4-3.

 

- On Monday April 27th Brush 3, Special Unit 3, and Engine Tanker 3 assisted with the estimated 37 acre mountain

   fire off of Mentzer Gap Road in Washington Township, Franklin County. Company 3 units were on the scene for

   over 8 hours.

- Only 3 hours after returning to service from the Mentzer Gap Road mountain fire, Special Unit 3

   assisted with a brush fire in Washington County Box 9-3 on Pen Mar Road in the area of the

   railroad tracks. Special Unit 3 cleared the scene at 04:20 hours.

 

- At 05:08 hours on Tuesday April 28th Company 3 was dispatched to a brush fire in the 200 block

  of Gum Springs Road in Box 3-7.  Responding units found a small brush fire along the roadway and

  after extinguishing the fire was in service at 05:54 hours.

Back to back calls

 

 

On April 4th at 17:35 hours Engine Rescue 3 responded to 15932 Foxville Deerfield Road in Thurmont, Maryland to assist

on the working house fire. Engine Rescue 3 helped supply the fire ground with port-a-tank operations and also assisted with

fire suppression and overhaul.  Engine Rescue 3 cleared the scene at 20:55 hours.

 

 

While Engine Rescue 3 was en-route to Thurmont, Special Unit 3 was dispatched to box 3-7 for an auto accident at the

intersection of Gum Springs Road and Snyder's Hollow Lane.  Responding units found one vehicle off the roadway with 2 patients

confined.  Company 3 was assisted by Engine Rescue 2, Ambulance 2A,Frederick County Squad 6, and Frederick County

Ambulance Company 26.  Special Unit 3 cleared the scene at 19:26 hours.

Assist on the brush fire

 

March 24- Engine Tanker 3 and Special Unit 3 were dispatched to assist Franklin County Company 4 with a brush fire at 12767

Buchanan Trail East. Company 3 assisted with fire control and suppression on the left flank of the fire.

Annual Awards Banquet

 

 

The 2008 Annual Awards Banquet was held to honor its members for their dedication during the past year.

 

The following awards were presented:

 

Top 10 responders:  Dave Martin, Larry Fowler, Carroll (Duke) Martin, Sarah Ginn, Brad Martin, Charlie Berger, Peggy Martin,

Sam Ginn, Colt Black, and Keith Rudisill

 

Chief's Award- Karen Rudisill

 

Polly Award- Larry Fowler

 

Chief Dave Martin was presented with an appreciation award from Company 3 members for his 25 years of dedication to the community

and department as fire chief. The Pennsylvania Senate and House of Representatives also gave citations to recognize Chief Martin for

his years of service as chief.

 

Special Community Support Awards were presented to Henry Mort for his support during Company 3's Christmas Party

and to the Gettysburg Tour Center for their support during our bus tours held in conjunction with Heritage Days.

Pre-alert to Box 3-7

 

A pre-alert was sounded at 03:35 hours on January 23rd to 50 Five Forks Lane in Hamiltonban Township for a barn fire.

Engine Tanker 3, Engine Rescue 3, and Special Unit 3 responded to find a storage/animal shed approximately 20x50 fully involved.

Company 3 was assisted by Adams County Companies 2 and 23, Franklin County Companies 4 and 2, and Frederick County

Companies 6, 10, 26 and Washington County Company 9. Company 3 returned to service at 05:44 hours.

The fire was ruled accidental and started in an electric heated water bowl being used in an animal's cage.

Transfer Assignment

 

Engine Tanker 3 was dispatched at 15:24 hours on January 22nd to transfer to Franklin County Company 2 (Waynesboro)

during their apartment building fire.

While on transfer Engine Tanker 3 was dispatched to Poplar Grove Road in Washington County for a shed fire.

Engine Tanker 3 was cancelled en-route to the scene and returned to Company 2.

Engine Tanker 3 returned to service at 17:54 hours.

Assist on the dwelling fire

 

At 11:48 hours on January 13th, Engine Tanker 3 was dispatched to assist in the 2-1 box for a dwelling fire.

Engine Tanker 3 responded to 2944 Fairfield Road in Highland Township and assisted with water supply during

the working structure fire. Engine Tanker 3 went in service at 14:26 hours.
